CEMB-University of the Punjab proudly congratulates Ms. Tehmeena Akhter on winning First Prize for her poster presentation at “The BioFestival”, held at the Institute for Genome Sciences (IGS), University of Maryland USA, on October 17, 2025. The event was organized in partnership with Zymo Research.

Tehmeena presented her Ph.D. thesis project, which received exceptional recognition from all judges in a highly competitive selection process. Her award includes a $1,000 research grant and a $300 cash prize.

This achievement is a testament to the outstanding mentorship of Prof. Dr. Saima Riazuddin, Adjunct Professor at University of the Punjab- CEMB and faculty member at the University of Maryland USA, under whose supervision Tehmeena conducted her research. Prof. Riazuddin’s continued guidance and collaboration have been instrumental in nurturing young scientists and strengthening research ties between CEMB and the University of Maryland, USA.
